Well, he’s only finally gone and done it! No more paid work for Stevie and no more please myself days for me.
After 33 years in the electricity supply industry Steve has now hung up his steel toe-caps and decided to become an unemployed bum like me. He is desperate to go to the labour exchange (his words – not mine!!) tomorrow to sign on. I suppose, given the date, he could always give it a try – although I’m not sure whether the staff have much of a sense of humour for idiots. Really though his priority is to sort our mooring, negotiating a favourable deal with BWML now we are on the bones of our arses and he still has a couple of jobs to do, including changing the head gasket (parts still being sourced, but looking hopeful).
We know that there is a chance that we will have a few fallings out as we did when we were first married – although one argument in 29 years and 5 months is not really a few. Let’s hope we can continue in that vein! Perhaps we should allow two arguments in the next month and then no more for 60 years! I’m sure Steve will make it to 110 years old!!!
Tomorrow is Day 1. Steve has spent the last four and a half years planning for this day. Unfortunately he forgot to plan Day 2 onwards. I suppose we will have to play it by ear!!!!
